Luisa & Daniel

It was back in 2019 when I first connected with Luisa and Daniel about their dream villa wedding. Even with the pandemic delaying our plans, we were able to tour multiple different wedding estates. In scouting, we were able to take two trips together and three in total as a couple, over the course of three years! Needless to say, we had plenty of time to get to know each other and discover some of the best wedding venues Italy has to offer.

A countryside estate wedding

Planning an entire destination wedding weekend event was an important part for Luisa and Daniel. We wanted each event to be both seamless and give a unique experience. Friday started with welcoming their guests to the main villa of the grand venue. It was a small, intimate gathering with a classic Italian pizza party. The perfect combo for connecting with their closest family and friends.

Saturday was of course the big day. The ceremony was held at the estate's stunning rooftop that overlooked Florence. An absolute dream! While the couple was swept away for sunset pictures, an outdoor cocktail hour took place in the courtyard. When it was finally time to move onto the reception, the villa’s massive wooden doors opened up to show an expansive garden with one single elegant long table down the middle while live musicians played to welcome their guests into the space.

Villa Medicea di Lilliano

Since Luisa Lion is from Germany, Daniel Baldock is from Australia, and both conduct business in LA, we knew that their guests would make the event an international affair. This meant that location was everything. It's typical to travel over 1 and a half to 2 hours to get to your destination wedding from the closest major airport when getting married in Tuscany. Florence became the best option since it had a major airport and offered the guests to make a trip out of their stay. Of course, they wanted a location that was easily photogenic and would keep the guests on their toes. Villa Medicea di Lilliano was all of the things if not more and we could not have picked a better Florence, Italy wedding venue.

A timeless and modern design

This wedding was a great example of how trends evolve over the years. At the start of 2019, for decor, we were looking at dried flowers and pampas grass with rose gold and blush tones. By the time 2022 came around, they had landed on a more modern and minimal design. We were now going in the direction of a timeless look, allowing the venue to really speak for itself. They chose fresh flowers with beige, cream linens, and blush accents that added a feminine touch but were not overpowering. Beautiful string lights draped over the single long table allowing the guests to stay together as the sun went down. It was special to witness the entire planning process come to life on such a beautiful day in our couple’s lives. We are so thrilled it all came together, changes and all.
