Planning a Destination Wedding in Europe?

Thinking about saying "I Do" at a Tuscany Villa? Or dancing the night away under the Paris stars? That's only a taste of what you get with a European destination wedding.

By having a destination wedding in Europe you are creating an entire experience. The atmosphere is completely different than your traditional local venue. Your guests will also most likely arrive days ahead of time, giving you the opportunity to have intimate gatherings prior to your wedding day.

When planning a destination wedding, it's important to have a network of trusted wedding vendors that you may not meet in person until the wedding day. This is why having a wedding planner that understands both the European culture and your vision becomes essential.

We want to break down how we support and plan a destination wedding in Europe with our couples.

Is a destination wedding in Europe the right decision for us?

When trying to decide your location for your destination wedding, think about what location reflects you as a couple. Not only think about where you long to go, but what parts of your personality reflect which cities? From there you will narrow down if Europe is where you are meant to exchange your vows.

The advantage to Europe is the variety of locations and seasons it has to offer. You could choose a winter wedding in the French Alps or a summer wedding in Athens. Endless opportunities to personalize what elements you and your partner want in your wedding.

What are the first 3 things to check off a destination wedding list?

  1. Get an idea of your guest count.

  2. Make a list of what you want to prioritize in your wedding.

  3. Hire a wedding planner that specializes in destination weddings, ideally in Europe.

What is the process for making the couple’s wedding legal when they get married abroad?

This will always depend on where the couple is from, what type of ceremony they want, and a few other elements. Once your wedding planner gathers the details needed, they will give you a customized process.

Here are some important things to note. There are locations allowed to officiate civil weddings. Meaning it is a legal ceremony and the couple only needs to hand over the paperwork to the administrative office in their country. Not every church allows foreign couples so just make sure you do the research or have your wedding planner give you options. The easiest way is through a symbolic ceremony. With this option, all the paperwork will be done in the country where the couple is from.

What is your process when planning any wedding through a pandemic?

After 2020, we have troubleshot and been given all the possible sceneries when planning a wedding through a pandemic. We are now more prepared than ever and assure our guests to feel the same.

Safety will always be the number one priority with our couples, which is why we always have a plan B AND C laid out. From the start of the planning process, we negotiate the right contract for our couples so that they can easily postpone without losing money.

If they choose an indoor venue, we make sure that the capacity isn’t maxed out so we have the option to space out the guests during the ceremony or reception.

Flexibility is key, now more than ever. We offer to be as flexible as possible for our couples to make last-minute decisions or arrangements. We will always stay up to date with current guidelines to create a safe environment for the couple and the guests, such as hygiene precautions or covid tests before the event.
